I came up with the rope gag to solve a problem I had and stumbled onto a tremendous tool. The rope gag is slow which allows time for the horse to understand what you are asking him to do. If your goal is to have a well broke horse that carries itself in a natural position (collected). This is a tool that will help you achieve that. It helps eliminate push, heaviness, and highhandedness and overall bad attitude. I personally have witnessed this bit help people reclaim, and retrain horses with horrible problems in a short period of time that couldn't have been done without it. It's extremely easy to use and extremely easy for the horse to understand. It's used every day in the barns of some of the best trainers in the USA and abroad, including Reiners, Barrel racers, Cutters, Rope and ranch horses. We offer this in a full ring and a half ring. The main difference between the full ring and the half ring is that the half ring works like a shank because the mouthpiece is positioned in front of the rope.
This mouthpiece is a broad-spectrum correction. It has a 3/8" bar, with a 90* transition from the port to the bar but the ball softens the transition . It fits lots of horses, it's our most popular barrel horse mouthpiece. It has tremendous success in the Rope horse industry along with Reiners and Cutters. Does not reach the roof of their mouth. If you are looking for a correctional that won't wear out and fits a multitude of horses, this is it.
